Netter Center’s LGBTQIA+ programming, OurSpace, in collaboration with Penn’s LGBT Center is currently working to help solve the issue of the limited safe spaces for queer youth, the challenges of fostering inclusivity within Philadelphia schools, and the lack of queer-inclusive and comprehensive health education.  Each component of OurSpace creates safe and educational spaces for queer youth to unapologetically be themselves while empowering them to be healthy and make positive changes for the LGBTQ+ community.

mid September Coded by Kids Innovation League The Innovation League is an opportunity for entrepreneurial high school students in Philadelphia who want to learn how to build businesses while growing their skills and solving problems in their community. Like a traditional sports league, students attend weekly practices led by tech mentors and build their technology, leadership, and social skills. The K-8 After School Program at the Honickman Learning Center Comcast Technology Labs provides high quality learning opportunities in a safe, nurturing and academically-rigorous environment where children are encouraged to achieve their full potential.  The program runs daily from 3:00-6:00 pm throughout the school year. 

The After School Program focuses on supporting children in developing their academic skills and raising literacy levels. Literacy skills are enhanced through the use of award-winning web-based software programs such as Imagine Learning and Achieve 3000.

Crew Members will work together in teams to complete conservation projects around the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge, including improvements to hiking trails, wildlife habitat and visitor infrastructure.  Program recruitment is targeted to attract youth from diverse backgrounds from the greater Philadelphia area.

rolling Philly Reading Coaches Philly Reading Coaches is helping students in grades K-3 become better, motivated and confident readers. mid September WTS Philadelphia's Transportation YOU Program

Transportation YOU is a hands-on, interactive, mentoring program that offers young women ages 13-18 an introduction to a wide variety of transportation careers. Through the program, WTS chapters work to make a difference in the lives of young girls by offering programs and activities that will spark their interest in all modes of transportation and encourage them to take courses in math, science, and technology, which are the stepping stones to exciting careers that can change the face of the transportation industry. Our program is led by over twenty women professionals (engineers, planners, marketing, and finance professionals) who volunteer their time as mentors.

Ellis Trust for Girls helps young women living in single-parent households, attending Philadelphia public and charter high schools, excel in school and be prepared for postsecondary success. In addition to awarding grants to help cover basic school-related needs, such as uniforms, supplies, sports equipment and musical instruments, The Ellis Trust funds a range of exciting and meaningful experiences and opportunities to help girls strengthen their academic skills, develop their character, perfect their talents and discover who they are and who they hope to be.

early September Rock to the Future Musicore After School Program Get the full music experience in a judgement-free creative environment! Students get to learn their choice of instrument (bass, guitar, drums, piano), form bands with their peers, write and record original music, play cover songs, participate in a vocal ensemble, and perform live a minimum of twice during the program year. Homework help and tutoring is also offered along with weekly creative workshops and performances from local and national musical guests from a variety of genres. FREE for low income students grades 6-12

TILT Institute Teen Photo Program
Teen Photo runs from October to May with weekly meetings one day a week. Students involved in the program will go out on field trips to photography exhibitions around the city, create a book of their own pictures and have the chance to exhibit and sell their work in PPAC’s gallery. PPAC provides a digital camera to borrow and free supplies. All you need to do is sign up! Most of our students have never had an art class of any kind before. FREE
