mid October  PennSCAPE PennSCAPE is PennRSSA’s new, innovative, year-long program that provides students the opportunity to receive academic enrichment, give back to their respective communities through service, while also participating in an introductory exploration with hands-on learning in one of the twelve undergraduate, graduate, and professional schools at the University of Pennsylvania. Students who successfully complete our program could leverage the PennSCAPE experience to meet the requirements outlined in Act 158 of the Pennsylvania Department of Education. mid October Citizen Diplomat Academy

Citizen Diplomat Academy is a free, direct enrollment virtual high school exchange program open to students (ages 14-18).  In this cohort-based model, students from the Greater Philadelphia region meet in live sessions with students from around the world over the course of five weeks to become citizen diplomats. Together, they develop key skills including cultural fluency, conflict resolution, critical thinking, and more to increase their comfort, and effectiveness as future leaders in a globalized world.

(HU) is offering dual enrollment courses to qualifying high school seniors at the Philadelphia location, Harrisburg University Philadelphia, 1500 Spring Garden Street, Philadelphia, PA 19130.  This program will allow your scholars to earn college credits while still in high school, giving them a head start on their postsecondary journey, PAID IN FULL BY SDP. Seats are limited.

After school programs teach 10th-12th graders to produce short documentaries and create original radio stories and stop motion animation. Youth Programs encourage teens to explore their own worlds through media, as they create projects on topics they select themselves.

early October Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts Youth Council The Youth Council offers opportunities for paraprofessional experiences within PAFA’s museum, including organizing events and programs for the museum’s expanding teen audience. Participants meet every week from October through May to explore the relationship between their peer group and art museums. They will have privileged access to PAFA’s art collection, staff and resources. In addition to creating, discussing and exploring art, they assist with planning and hosting events geared towards teens. FREE 9-12

late October Disney Dreamers Academy Disney Dreamers Academy is a 4-day, power-packed event that takes place in Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, in which 100 select high school students, ages 13-19, are inspired, motivated and prepared to dream big. Disney Dreamers experience:

  • Career activities ranging from animation, journalism and entrepreneurship, to culinary arts and zoology

Drexel University Bridge Academy The Bridge Academy is a highly selective program that allows high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors from Philadelphia and the surrounding counties to enroll in one class per quarter — on a space-available basis — at Drexel University's University City Campus while completing high school.
