mid-December Asian Americans United Youth Leadership Program The Asian Americans United Youth Leadership Program is an 16-week-long leadership program for high school youth to become strong leaders among their peers and in their communities. YOU GET PAID 9-12
mid-December UPenn GEARS Day GEARS Day is a cost-free, day-long camp intended to educate high school students about the engineering profession and inspire interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) fields. You will participate in hands-on workshops focusing on various engineering disciplines including bioengineering, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and computer science. Throughout the day, you will interact with engineering college students, professors, and professionals. FREE 9-12

FREE program to expose students underrepresented in medicine to medicine and health-allied careers.  Pipeline Dreams: High School program aims to foster and sustain a pipeline of diverse physicians, scientists, and healthcare professionals to decrease health disparities by increasing diversity in medicine.

early December IAC and Jewish Federation Teen Ambassadorship

Israeli American Council (IAC) and the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia invites high school students (9th – 12th grade) to become a part of the Teen Ambassadorship program.

 

This program works with American Israeli and Jewish teens, preparing them to recognize and have the tools necessary to deal with antisemitism both in person and on social media in today’s world.

Mid-December ASPIRE (Asian Students Promoting Identity, Reflection, and Education) ASPIRE is a high school mentoring program for local high schools to provide a safe space for students to discuss identity, culture, and issues affecting the Asian Pacific American community. High school students attend biweekly sessions facilitated by college students and held at Penn. It is a community of dedicated students who come together to learn and reflect. FREE  9-12  
Mid-December STEM Scholars at The Franklin Institute The STEM Scholars program serves a select group of Philadelphia-area students in grades 9-12 who are passionate about science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) subjects. The program’s mission is to increase promising urban students' matriculation into college and careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields by providing a STEM immersion portal to enhance STEM subject knowledge and problem-solving skills.

Mid December Haverford College: The Mentoring and Student Teaching (MAST) Program

This outreach program's main objective is to introduce middle school students to hands-on experimental science through laboratories in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Middle school students who participate in this weekly enterprise will gain lab experience while maintaining laboratory notebooks and developing skills in scientific thought and science communication. 

Equally important, the MAST program aims to encourage students to look beyond the scope of their school experience and towards possible research and academic careers in the sciences.

Congressional Seminar National Essay Contest

 

PRIZE: A week in Washington, D.C., in June, to attend a Congressional Seminar Workshop. The seminar is a unique experience in the study of American national government with emphasis on the concerns and activities of the United States Congress.
